Our Theory
and Design Lab was officially established with the completion of our Studio in October of 2006, though unofficially it began
earlier, as a vision aiming to inspire, influence, and integrate sustainable design, beauty, and purpose in the
lives of people, their homes and communities.
The ambition of Archidron Design is to bridge ecologically
mindful and sustainable design concepts together with building and development, aspiring to influence the ideological evolution
of our urban environments. The idea is to think about the design of our communities and better understand the influential
role we play in their form and function. Further, we also believe that a holistic and complete form of living for people can
be achieved fundamentally with the improvement of systems that define our environments as well. We must further adapt
community planning and development in order to better integrate and bridge our natural and urban environments, as well as
redefining and diversifying the use of urban space. Community planning and landscape design, together with the marriage of
architecture and ecology, can become highly influential forces in the ideological progress of society and the vital preservation
of our natural world.
Reevaluating the many ways in which we live and enjoy life, may prove to be the greatest
challenge; but if practiced would generate an even greater spike of progress for many. This force is one of the most important
factors in the design of our communities. The form and structure of our environments and habitats are figurative mirrors of
our social condition and measures of our cultural value, serving to perpetuate the social character with which it is forged.
This greatly affects the ways in which we move, grow, and prosper, thus can be debilitating to the prospect of cultural advancement
when toxic and may be hindering to the promise of ideological change.
The design and resulting forms of cities,
communities, living environments, and people, bears strong likeness to the concept of planting a tree in a garden. There are
many factors that must be considered in choosing its ideal placement and countless forces that will influence the shape and
abundance of the fruit it bears. Must you provide it with resources or can it thrive on its own with minimal care? How might
you play a role in the form it takes? And what must be done to adapt its roots to conditions that may challenge its survival?
There are clear connections between the behavior of society and the conditions of our living environments.
Our mission is reflected at the small scale of a flower or curbside planter up through our visionary concept models for a
network of urban nodes. The plan is to inspire and influence fundamental change for the advancement of the human condition,
through the responsible development of our communities, by engaging ecological beauty with the system and forms of our urban
environs.
